Humber Arboretum &
Centre for Urban Ecology

The Centre for Urban Ecology, a Gold LEED certified building, featuring sustainable design and green technologies, is an "Oasis" of green space in a highly urbanized area. Situated on 250 acres, behind Humber College in north Etobicoke, the Arboretum grounds' diverse habitats include forests, gardens, ponds, meadow and a Heritage river. We offer interactive curriculum specific nature programs for all grades, birthday parties and community activities.

The Humber Arboretum & Centre for Urban Ecology is part of the Sustainable Sites Initiatives, a 2 year pilot involving sustainable landscapes. This initiative was established to develop standards and guidelines for sustainable land development and management practices. The Centre is home to a 7-acre Sustainable Pilot Site, one of the three Canadian sites among a diverse array of pilots around the globe. The Arboretum grounds' diverse habitats include forests, gardens, ponds, meadow and a Heritage river sheltering an extensive biodiversity of life.
